I drove from Milford, NH to Topanga, CA in April of '04. I lived there for a glorious 6 weeks before finding a more practical, if less picturesque apartment in Santa Monica.

Malden, MA

I lived in a beautiful, expensive apartment on Grace St. in Malden, MA until Aug. '01 when I followed my intuition to move to a cheaper apartment... just two months before I was laid off from Digitas in the wake of the .com crash and 9/11. I ended up moving back into the other Malden house, but this time to the downstairs apartment!

San Francisco

While living in Malden, I twice stayed in San Francisco for work, for two months each time. I lived on Nob Hill in 1999, and downtown in 2000.

While I lived here, I visited Portland as well.

Dorchester, MA

Fulfilling a life-long dream, in the fall of 2000, I moved to a gorgeous, sunny studio loft in Upham's Corner in Dorchester near the Strand Theatre.

I ended up being extremely allergic to the apartment, which, in addition to its astronomical allergen count, had the highest average decibel level of anywhere I've ever been in my life. It would have been quieter to live in a cardboard box in the middle of Times Square. I moved back to Malden two months later.

My mother and I went to England and Ireland in spring of '98. When I came back, I moved my stuff from the quarry back to my Dad's house in Milford... then I lived on Francis' boat in Constitution Marina, and sometimes stayed at friends' houses in Powderhouse Sq. , Porter Square, and Jamaica Plain.

During the winter of '94, I lived in Hamilton, OH... then bought an Amtrak All-Aboard Pass and went to Taos, NM... then San Diego, CA... then San Francisco, CA... then back to Ohio where I stayed in Cincinnati... then back to Boston where I stayed in Cambridge and Brighton... then I lived at my dad's new house in Milford, NH until I went back to MassArt in Jan '95.

For a few months in 1991, I lived with a couple of roommates in Arlington, MA... I'm not sure if this is the right house, but I think it's close - and it was a house just like this. It was a short walk across Thorndike Field to Alewife Station.

In June 1990 I moved to my own apartment in Acton, MA, where I lived alone for the first time! I didn't own a car, so I would walk from my house to the Acton train station, take the commuter rail to Porter Square, then the red line to Central Square, where I worked at the Free Software Foundation.

In the summer of 1987 the family & I moved to PA. We were going to live in King-of-Prussia, PA, but the mother took one look at the apartment and vetoed it. We stayed with friends of their family nearby, then I stayed in Philadelphia with friends of my family... then I went to Fairhope, AL and stayed with my grandmother, then I stayed with my mother in Boulder for the rest of the summer before returning to PA.

I was home-schooled in Wilton in 6th grade and again in Milford from 1985 until I got my GED in 1987 at age 16. In January of 1987 I moved to West Epping, NH and lived with another family who were home-schooling their kids. The father had just gone back on active duty with the army reserve and the mother still had a full-time job, so I taught home education to their two boys, ages 8 & 11, from January to June.
